CINEMA & MEDIA FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

Project Descriptions

Gaon Film Festival is a unique social awareness initiative by VPRA Foundation, designed to bring the power of cinema directly to rural communities. The festival travels from village to village, organizing film screenings that focus on important social issues such as education, health, women empowerment, environment, digital literacy, and community development.

We believe that cinema is not just entertainment — it is a powerful medium for dialogue and transformation. After every screening, our team facilitates open discussions with villagers, encouraging them to share their thoughts, experiences, and solutions related to the themes presented in the film.

Through this interactive approach, Gaon Film Festival aims to:

  • Promote awareness on critical social issues

  • Encourage community participation and dialogue

  • Inspire positive behavioral change

  • Strengthen grassroots understanding and leadership

  • Use storytelling as a tool for social impact

By taking meaningful cinema to the heart of rural India, Gaon Film Festival creates a platform where stories spark conversations, and conversations lead to change.
